The End of Wall Street

Michael Lewis' book "Liar's Poker" is on my list of things to read. I enjoyed "Moneyball" and hated "The Blind Side," but his recent piece on the "End of Wall Street" was pretty good.

The following sentences sum up what I've been suspecting about investment bankers on Wall St:

"If mere scandal could have destroyed the big Wall Street investment banks, they’d have vanished long ago. This woman [Meredith Whitney] wasn’t saying that Wall Street bankers were corrupt. She was saying they were stupid. These people whose job it was to allocate capital apparently didn’t even know how to manage their own."

This read is worth your precious time. Hat tip to Bacala's Brain for the link.
