Do not pass Go....do not collect $200

It really irks me how the mainstream news media seems to be diverting more attention to celebrity and entertainment news than "real" news. Seeing stuff like Anna Nicole's death being covered on CNN both saddens and angers me.

Which is why I'm ashamed to admit, I'm totally fascinated by this whole Paris Hilton going to jail story. I didn't care much when I heard she was going to jail. When she actually went to jail, I was mildly amused. When she got out of jail after one day to serve house arrest, my interest was piqued. And now that her attempts to get out of jail free were thwarted by a judge and she's headed back to the big house (sobbing all the way), I'm completely enraptured.

What's really crazy is that regular people seem to have really strong feelings about Paris Hilton as a person. Sure, the media coverage of her is irritating, and she's totally rich and spoiled, but people really seem to hate this girl for no REAL reason!

I hate myself for it, but I absolutely can't wait to find out what's going to happen in the next chapter of this drama. Will she try to get out again? Will she emerge totally humbled? Will she suffer some sort of extreme emotional meltdown? Will someone slip a shiv between her ribs? I can't believe I'm wasting time thinking about it...
