Obama-nation

A few days late, I know, but congrats to Obama for winning the presidential election. Like most people, I was pretty impressed with his acceptance speech.

I've got a lot more post-election thoughts, but as far as this speech goes, I could only think of one thing as I was watching it:

Obama 2008
Electoral Votes won: 349
Percentage of popular vote: 53%
"And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too."

Bush 2004
Electoral Votes won: 286
Percentage of popular vote: 51%
"I earned capital in the campaign, political capital, and now I intend to spend it."

Lastly, hat tip to the Wacky Chinabrother for calling my attention to the following LONG series of "behind the scenes" reporting that Newsweek just published on the web. Fascinating stuff, extremely long, and after 1 hour, I'm only halfway through...but so far it's been well worth the time to read.
