Wall-E
Few movies are completely original anymore. I submit that Pixar's new movie Wall-E is one of those few. As always, the story is very imaginative, the animation very impressive, the characters very humorous, but to me, the storytelling is the most noteworthy aspect of the movie.
Just like the trailer, there's hardly any dialogue in this movie, but it works! None of the robots mutter more than a few simple phrases, yet nearly everything is communicated through expression, body language, and images. The movie takes place in the distant future, and by the half-hour mark, you can pretty much piece together the events that have led up to that point--without any sort of awkward flashback or verbal explanation.
It must be really nice to be creative...
