A weekend in Detroit

Just got back from a weekend in the Detroit area. I didn't really know what to expect from this city--I have to admit that part of me was a little worried about stumbling into some rough neighborhoods and dodging bullets.

All in all, it wasn't bad, but I don't see myself going back there again. It pretty much looks like most other small Midwestern city (like my hometown of Cincinnati): lots of moderately tall buildings made of concrete, but nothing particularly exciting.

I did attend a Redwings game, which was pretty fun, because although I have seen a live hockey game, this one had knowledgeable fans that were REALLY into it. Pretty fun.

On another, snottier note, I think my experience in Germany has spoiled me when it comes to beer. After having some Molsons and Budweisers this weekend, I find myself yearning for the Augustiner Dunkels and Kolsch beers back in Germany...
