After reviewing the play....
A quick review through the TiVo reveals a few more things about the Jets game.
-Pennington didn't play as badly as I initially thought. He completed 16 of 21 passes and showed some toughness by leading a TD drive on a bum ankle. There were at least two passes that slipped through Patriot hands though, and he made mistakes that seemed uncharacteristic of him. But I grade him tough here, because when he's on his game, he's making key third down throws that keep drives alive and frustrates Patriot fans. He didn't do that this time, going a measly 4 of 11 on third down.
-That eye-popping Randy Moss 51-yard TD grab is even more amazing than I had originally thought. Watching the replay, Moss looks like he's running down the field at full speed...but as the ball is in the air, he actually speeds up TWICE to adjust to the flight of the ball. So even as he was pulling away from the three defenders on him, he wasn't running full speed! That's just ridiculous.
