Random Post on Breakfast Hash

Just got back from a wedding reception in Portland, Oregon. Not a bad little town, Portland. Lots of little art galleries and antique shops in the Pearl District.

Had a pretty good brunch at a place called Bijou cafe. The house specialty was Fresh Oyster Hash, so I went with that. Oysters are an odd choice for breakfast, but this was pretty tasty. Even though the fried oysters were mixed in with hash browned potatoes and onions, it wasn't too greasy (apparently because they used clarified butter for the frying). Bijou cafe also had a really tasty oatmeal muffin that came on the side. The place must be pretty popular, since the line was almost out the door.

But the best breakfast hash I've ever had is the corned beef hash at the Trolley Junction Inn in Nevada City, CA. The dish consists of large chunks of fresh corned beef, potatoes, onions, topped with two eggs over easy. They use just the right amount of perfectly sauteed onions and every bite is delicious. If you ever find yourself headed through Nevada City on the way to Lake Tahoe, you should seriously think about stopping in and grabbing a bite.

Oddly enough, I don't know of any decent breakfast places near where I live, though I'm sure some exist.

Anyway, that's my random post.

He's going to be insufferable now...

Awful. Just awful.
