No More Theismann

"It would be like training to be a doctor or a lawyer and having them say, 'we would like you to change to another profession.'" -Former NFL analyst Joe Theismann, on being offered a college football analyst job.

Analogies like this are why no one will miss Theismann in the Monday Night Football commentators booth. I've been waiting for this guy to be given the boot for years.

Let the Ron Jaworski era begin!

The word 'genius' isn't applicable in football. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein." -Joe Theismann

While I never want to root for anybody to get fired, Joe Thiesmann was a horrible announcer. I'm pretty surprised he lasted as long as he did. On the other hand, I think sports announcers have absolutely no bearing on whether or not somebody will watch a sport. Television programming people seem not to realize this. I like football, and I am no more or less likely to watch Monday Night Football now that he is off the program. On the other hand, I don't think there are many non-sports fans that are now watching to see what Tony Kornheiser has to say.
