No strokes for Wacky...

Original readers of the blog (both of them) will remember the very first post in this space in which a shocked Wacky Chinaman recounted his trip to the doctor and discovered that he had a greater risk of heart attack than John Goodman.

Since that time, I embarked on four months of diet and exercise, during which time I ran a half marathon, slurped down a bowl of oatmeal almost every morning, ate zero slices of pizza, and felt guilty every time I sucked down a piece of shellfish. On Monday, I went in to the doctor's office expecting to have made some improvement from my outrageously high cholesterol level of 271.

Well, it all seems to have been worth it. I'm not exactly sure how this has managed to happen, but my cholesterol level is now at a reasonable 170. A hundred points?!? After four months? Let's just say that my faith in the blood testing process is shaken. Either those tests are as wacky as the Chinaman himself, or Quaker Oats is going to be hiring me as their spokesperson.

The bottom line is that I seem to be in the clear, so now I can hit the buffets and resume the binge eating (in moderation, of course). Good times! And what did I decide on for my very first meal? A large pizza from Tasty Subs with pepperoni, sausage, ham, and mushrooms. Mmmmm....delish...

(Don't worry, Colonel, I haven't forgotten...you and me have a date NEXT week.)

Don't forget the bacon, egg and cheese biscuits! My mouth waters just thinking of them.

Of course, this calls into question the precision of the cholesterol test in general. Do you think your cholesterol dropped 100 points in a month? Or was it an error? Perhaps someone misread 170 as 270 the first time? Was there not sufficient fasting before? Can the test just be inaccurate? Someone should look into this.

I can believe my cholesterol dropped over 4 months time, but 100 points seems a bit much. I suspect something polluted the initial test, because 270 is pretty high. Kind of like tha Seinfeld episode where Kramer messes up Giuliani's test results.

Next time I'm tested, I'll hopefully have a good idea of which test was faulty.
