Day 7 of 24

I have mixed feelings on the new "24" trailer.

On one hand, I'm irked by the casual pro-torture theme. While it's all fun and games for a TV show, I am unnerved by our government's actions when it comes to torture, and having a fictionalized TV show attempt to justify its use seems a little dangerous.

On the other hand, for a piece of escapist, suspenseful fun, it looks pretty sweet!

Agreed on torture. Fortunately Law and Order SVU seemed to come out on the anti-torture side the other night.

Ugh Tony. I like Tony a lot. I hated how he died. But he was dead. There better be a decent explanation to this one. They couldn't create any more good characters so they have to resort to resurrecting old ones? This doesn't bode well, but I'll reserve total judgment until the season actually starts.

Resurrecting Tony seems like a panicked move by the writers. This move is straight out of the Marvel Comics playbook.

On the other hand, I did enjoy Tony growing facial hair to announce his new career as a terrorist.

It works fine for Marvel Comics, where characters come and go as they please, and people can fly! It doesn't work in the "realistic" 24. Do you think this is a twin? He sure seemed to answer to the name "Tony."
